Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and advises that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.
