2K Hires Popular Battle Royale Developer to Rescue Challenged Action Game Ambitious Title

2K Games has welcomed Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to direct the development team at 31st Union, which is currently crafting the upcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Leadership Transition Follows Poor Response

Brinkman assumes the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' underwhelming initial reveal last autumn.

Recently, 2K president David Ismailer notified team members about this decision through an official communication, which emphasized that early feedback sessions had revealed the requirement for a more defined game identity.

Ismailer stated that the developers is now refining the project with a revised vision, aiming to address community desires.

Trend of Strategic Recruitment

The news follows a comparable action taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they recruited an industry veteran from Blizzard to contribute to the beloved franchise development group.

Here is the complete content from the president's announcement:

Hello Everyone—

I understand you all just completed your town hall - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the positive developments. Last time I shared you all a note, I mentioned the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most driven and talented creators we have had the chance to partner with - and we’re looking forward for that relationship to persist.”

With your dedication and versatility, particularly over the last year, you repeatedly show that.

The community feedback from last fall’s Project ETHOS demo was enlightening. It validated the promise of a action-packed game but made clear we still had work to do. It uncovered the necessity for a clearer identity.

The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve come. You took the feedback to consideration and reimagined the title with a renewed direction - one that’s positioned to achieve its ambition to our players.

The trust in Project ETHOS strengthens every day. To boost the remarkable advancement you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce the new hire as the new Director of 31st Union. After a period of discussions, Ben comes aboard us on the specified date.

Ben’s leadership and background in the PVP shooter space is vast, having devoted the recent years creating and managing some of the most popular series in the industry, for example Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, the battle royale hit.

I invite you all in welcoming Ben next week. We are all eager to continue observing the progress of Project ETHOS in the weeks to come.

The President

Project Ethos lacks an official debut schedule or platforms, but fans can look forward to additional details as production continues.
